Dear NBCC Leaders, Volunteers, and Staff,
As many of you know, we have designated 2026 to be a year of formation for NBCC. This is more than a theme—it is a spiritual direction as we seek to become a Jesus-First church that lives and practices The Jesus Way.
As part of this journey, we are preparing for the upcoming Jesus Way campaign, which will build on the personal spiritual practices we have been learning and focus on interpersonal spiritual practices—how we relate to one another in ways that reflect the life and teachings of Jesus. To get ready for this important season, we are asking all NBCC staff and volunteers to attend our Leadership Summit:
Saturday, April 18
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
NBCC San Jose Campus
72 N. 5th Street
San Jose, California
This summit will include a complimentary continental brunch, times of worship and prayer, vision casting, and practical instruction to help equip you to guide the church through this upcoming season of formation.
As you will hear during the Jesus Way preaching series, we want to become people who hold deep conviction with deep compassion, engaging one another with practices such as courageous integrity, kindness, radical empathy, forgiveness, and generosity. Through this initiative, our goal is to see hundreds of people across NBCC engaging these principles together in small groups, ministry contexts and daily life, helping shape a culture that reflects Christ more fully. Pastor Hurmon will present the goals of this campaign and what it will mean for NBCC now and into the future.
At the end of the Summit, Pastor Hurmon and the NBCC elders will pray a prayer of commissioning as you, the leaders of NBCC, prepare to carry this vision to the larger congregation.
Your presence at the Leadership Summit is essential. We want every leader, staff member, and volunteer equipped and aligned so that together we can help this become more than a sermon series or a life group campaign—it can become a culture-shaping movement within our church community.
Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. We look forward to gathering with you as we prepare for what God has in store for NBCC.
Thank you for your leadership, your service, and your commitment to our church family.
God, our Comforter and Strength,
We thank You for Your loving care and mercy during the devastating fires in Southern California. We are grateful for the firefighters who have worked tirelessly to control the flames. We praise You for each person who escaped unharmed and for every home that was spared. We recognize that, without Your grace, the destruction could have been far worse.
Even as we acknowledge Your goodness, we mourn with the families and friends of the nearly 30 people who have died—men and women of various ages and backgrounds. We know that more than a dozen people are still missing, and we pray for their safe return to their loved ones.
Please heal the bodies, hearts, and spirits of all those traumatized by the fires. Provide for those who have lost their homes or livelihoods, and guide them as they rebuild their lives. Continue to protect and strengthen the firefighters as they work to fully contain the remaining fires.
Bless all who contribute to these charities, aiming to be a source of comfort amid pain and loss.
As we move forward in Your strength, we entrust ourselves, our homes, and our state to Your care and protection.
In the name of Your Son Jesus,
Amen.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” —Psalm 46:1 (NIV)
